Seafood Salad (Yum Talay)


Add water to a pot and bring to a boil
Add ½ of a pound of the Scallop and cook quickly. Don't overcook or it will taste rubbery.
Remove the scallops from the pot and set in a bowl
Next, bring the pot of water back to a boil and add Calamari. Cook quickly but once again do not overcook
Remove cooked Calamari and add it to the bowl to cool
Bring the water back to a boil and add
Shrimp or prawns. Cook until pink and set aside to cool

Add about two tablespoons of a sauce called Nam Prik Poa to a small bowl (Nam Prik Poa it is chili paste wtth soy bean oil). You can use less if you like it milder

Cut up a whole lime and squeeze it into the chili paste.
Add About 2 tablespoons of fish sauce, (Sea Food already has it’s own salty taste so we try to not put a lot of fish sauce at first)
Stir the mixture real well until it is no longer lumpy.
If you like it real spicy you can add sliced Thai chili peppers to the mixture

Pour this dressing over the bowl of cooked Shrimp, calamari and scallops.
Mix it well.
Add sliced lemon grass, sliced onions, green onion and cilantro then put in a serving bowl ad garnish with mints leaves.



½ lb. big frozen Shelled Prawns

½ lb. frozen already cut and cleaned calamari

½ lb. medium or big size fresh or frozen scallop

½ medium red onion (sliced )

1/3 bunch cilantro leaves

2 stalks green onion

1 stalk fresh lemon grass (sliced)

1 cup Mints leaves for garnish


3 to 4 tbsp lime juice

2 tbsp fish sauce

1 -2 tbsp chili paste with soya bean oil

1-2 Thai chili pepper for spicier taste (optional )
